Below, is a list of tools and resources to help make integrating technology into the classroom fun! Some of these resources I have personally used in my classroom, while some of the resources were found through exploration in my MAET year 1 program. Here there are a combination of free and paid apps.


showmeShow Me – Show Me is a presentation recording app. There is also a library of prerecorded lectures for grades k-12. When recording a lesson you can add pictures, video clips, voice recordings, and you can write on the slides. When recording, however, there is not a way to cut the voice over if you want to trim something out. Show Me is available for free in the Apple Store.


Google AppsGoogle Apps – Google Apps affords you the luxury to create, edit and share files on the go. There are many options to help keep you organized and up to date with all things Google; Drive, Calendar, Docs, Slides, Forms, Sites, Sheets, and Hangouts. These tools can be found on the web or in convenient applications for your phone, tablet, or laptop. An account is needed, but is free to utilize the Google Apps.


class dojo 1Class Dojo – Class Dojo is a behavior tracking app. It allows teachers to track both positive and negative behaviors. They can then award or take away points from individual students or whole classes. Students can create their own avatar and parents can access their profile as well. You do need an account to access Class Dojo, but it is free. Creating classes can be time consuming at the beginning of the year, but the visible behavior tracking is a good way for teachers and kids to stay on top of their behavior.



brainpopBrain Pop – Brain Pop is a collection of animated videos in all subject areas for grade K-12. It is web based site as well as an app. An paid subscription is needed for access to the app and its videos, which may make it not affordable for some classrooms. Videos are short and engaging for students and can easily be integrated into everyday lessons.


tapquizmapsTapQuiz Maps – TapQuiz Maps is a great geography review tool for students with Apple devices. It is a free app the can be downloaded in the Apple Store. They fast paced interactive quizzes help students review world geography for quizzes and tests, or just for fun!

educreations_logo_1.pngEducreations – Educreations is an app for iPads. It is free, but offers in-app purchase options. Educreations is popular with both students and teachers. This interactive whiteboard allows teachers to make short instructional videos or presentations for their students. It also allows for much easier communication between teachers and students, and it’s designed so the process itself is enjoyable.

novaNova Elements – Free App for Apple devices! Did you ever wonder why the periodic table is shaped the way it is, what gives each element its own unique set of properties, or even how elements combine to make everyday objects such as a cup of coffee? With NOVA Elements, explore an interactive periodic table, play a game, or watch the NOVA program, “Hunting the Elements.”
